Justin Russel was born in 1975 in Hawkes Bay New Zealand.
As a self taught artist, he now has the privilege to work alongside and assist his long time favourite Artist.
Justin has been honing his practice from an early age. While other kids were playing sports, Justin could be found drawing or painting. In 2011, while living in Melbourne an opportunity arose to take his craft more seriously.
It was during this time he was fortunate to receive one to one lessons with inspirational artist, Matt R. Martin.
Justin also spent 5 years Living and working in London. Throughout his time here he participated in multiple workshops hosted by hyper realism master Eloy Morales, who is based in Spain.
Justin’s Previous accolades include being
Preselected for BP Portrait Award (2017),National Portrait Gallery, London, Preselected for BP Portrait Award (2016), National Portrait Gallery, London, He was also Preselected for the Threadneedle prize (2016)Mall Galleries, London.
Justin’s previous style of painting was Specialising in realism and hyper realistic portrait painting , currently (he now) enjoys painting realism and surrealism paintings.

Justin currently lives in Dublin Ireland with his wife and their Pit-bull, Blondie.
